ABF Freight System, Inc., a financially stable major transcontinental motor carrier, with a history of outperforming its competition, has an immediate opening for an Intermodal Specialist in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

The Intermodal Specialist will execute movement of ABF’s cargo using rail intermodal, offshore, and Canadian linehaul.  The Intermodal Specialist will coordinate with ABF terminals and the various vendors to ensure timely dispatch and seamless handoff of freight.  Additionally, this position will ensure equipment positioning to support customer and terminal business demands, and will maintain the various databases used in the intermodal dispatch systems.

Close coordination with the Equipment Control Supervisor, the Supervisor of Intermodal Operations, Central Dispatch, Engineering, IT, Terminal Operations, Sales, Volume Price Quote, and the various department vendors is required.

Duties Include:

Review and Adjustment of Daily Intermodal Plan

Tracing, Follow up, and Problem Resolution

Planning and execution of equipment positioning and sourcing

Development of cost components for Volume Price Quote

Review and coordination of intermodal maintenance

Managing intermodal databases

Coordination of ABF/Vendor relationship

Support of logistics initiatives

Other Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Educational Requirements):

Bachelors Degree preferred.

Effective problem solving, quantitative analysis, interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.

Proficiency in PC and mainframe computer applications, including the internet. 

Experience utilizing Excel, Power Point, and Access.

Attention to detail and quality organizational skills.

A working knowledge of terminal/linehaul network. 

Some travel involved.

Must be willing to relocate to Fort Smith, Arkansas.
