The District is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Interim Dean, Health Sciences, Human Services & Emeritus Institute at Saddleback College.  Reporting to the Vice President for Instruction at Saddleback College, the Interim Dean, Health Sciences, Human Services & Emeritus Institute is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising all aspects of the division.

Education & Experience Required:  Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following disciplines: nursing, health sciences, human services or a related field.   Minimum of one year successful postsecondary administrative or supervisory experience in health sciences, human services, Emeritus or a discipline reasonably related to this position.  Three years successful classroom teaching experience in a health sciences or human services program in higher education.  Experience managing complex budgets exceeding $4 million with an emphasis on managing part-time faculty scheduling.  Strong written and oral communication skills.  Evidence of experience overseeing a diverse student body from a broad economic and social sector with varied ethnic backgrounds and needs.

Desirable Qualifications:  Baccalaureate or Masters degree in Registered Nursing and/or Doctorate degree preferred. Two years of experience or more within the last five years of administrative or management experience in academic divisions, sections or schools within a community college and/or four-year college or university, with emphasis on nursing, health sciences or human services.  Administrative leadership experience in the development, organization, and management of a wide variety of instructional programs.  Evidence of an understanding of and experience with the principles of shared governance.  Ability to communicate effectively with college faculty, staff, students and members of the community.  Ability to interact with and develop relationships with health care agencies. Ability to advocate for the division’s programs and needs.  Community college system knowledge; Knowledge of trends in health sciences, human services and Emeritus.  Prior success in obtaining outside funding sources and developing and implementing innovative grant programs and follow-up reporting. Team-oriented leadership style and knowledge of management techniques that encourages creativity, improve efficiency and increase productivity. Ability to resolve conflicts and solve problems. Ability to plan, evaluate and supervise delivery of instructional programs and strategies. Ability to analyze and apply laws, rules and regulations involving programs, staff and students. Ability to represent the college at the community, state and national levels. Ability to interpret health care agency contracts, while protecting the interests of the college and its programs. Knowledge of the application of technology to enhance and support instruction and to deliver education through innovative delivery modes, including distance learning. Ability to interpret and report on occupational and labor market data collected from and disseminated to federal, state and local agencies.
