JOB SUMMARY:

 

Maintains and repairs emissions testing equipment. Performs scheduled maintenance and calibrations on emission analyzers, sampling systems, dynamometers as well as all related subsystems. Diagnoses and repairs performance issues with all test and calibration equipment. Keeps and maintains records and documentation related to maintenance, repair, and calibration of all lab equipment. Interacts with equipment suppliers when outside help is required.

 

                                     

                    PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

% of time spent on each activity

                                     

25%            1. Maintains and calibrates test lab equipment according to Isuzu standards and related EPA regulations

 

25%            2. Provides and maintains all necessary records and documents related to keeping equipment up to EPA certification level as well as Isuzu standards.

 

25%            3. Troubleshoots and repairs testing and calibration equipment. Looks for ways to enhance performance and increase reliability of all test equipment.

 

25%            4. Assists in the procurement and implementation of new lab equipment.

 

                   5. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

 

•                  Reports to:  Manager, Engine & Emissions Lab

•                  No direct reports

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

 

•                  Associates degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent directly related work experience; seminar/industrial training in emissions test equipment preferred

•                  Minimum five years concentrated experience in emissions equipment repair, and

Maintenance

 

KNOWLEDGE:

 

•                  Thorough knowledge of emissions sample trains, analyzers, dynos, and lab automation

•                  Knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 40 part 86 and 1065

 

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

 

•                  Good PC skills including Windows applications

•                  Strong record keeping skills

•                  Good aptitude for troubleshooting and repair

•                  Ability to organize/develop time schedules

•                  Excellent analytical skills

 

 

PHYSICAL STANDARDS

 

The employee must be able to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer.  This is primarily a sedentary position in a controlled office environment which requires only occasional reaching, stooping and lifting of office files, reports or records, typically weighing 5 lbs. or less.  Rare instances requiring lifting of average objects (25 to 60 lbs.)
