CITY: Charlotte STATE: North Carolina COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities): *Performs miscellaneous operations such as investigate and report on various types of electrical equipment such as AC and DC motors, generators, transformers, rotary converters, control devices, etc. * May dynamic balance and aid engineers at special tests, trial acceptance runs, etc. * Performs related duties as assigned, may be require to direct others. * Work will be conducted both on site and in the shop for GE and non-GE applications. Qualifications/Requirements: * High School or equivalency diploma. Eligibility Requirements: * Must have a valid drivers license or be able to obtain one. * You must be 18 years or older. * Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process. * Must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process. * Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. * If currently a GE employee, you must have been in your current position for at least 12 months and have at least a satisfactory performance rating. Desired: * Formal training in electrical theory or equipment repair; technical or trade school certification or minimum of four (4) years experience in rotating electrical equipment repair (medium to large AC & DC motors or generators). * Demonstrated ability to properly operate electrical test equipment. * Knowledge and experience in rewinding processes; installing coils, bars and related components; experience in winding techniques of tying, taping and assembly. * Travel to and from projects and various field assignments will be required. * Self-starter and able to work with minimal direction. * Willing to work long hours, weekends, and various shifts when needed. * Willingly accepts job challenges. * Ability and willingness to travel (extensively) - domestically and international. * Ability and willingness to work in large power plants, including nuclear power stations and sites requiring a drug screen. * Ability and willingness to work day or night shift, from 8-12 hours/shift, and up to 5-7 days/week. * Repair projects could require mobilization with only 1-2 days notice; small projects last 1-2 weeks, large projects last 4 to 6 weeks. General: *Position may be filled at a lower classification, Inspection & Test B or Electric Mechanic A, depending on the qualifications and the experience of the selected candidate. *This is an hourly position located in Charlotte, NC. No relocation will be provided. * Travel to and from projects and various field assignments will be required. * Overtime, weekend and holiday work will be required. * Access to job site facilities/sites may include, but not be limited to, customer required drug screening, background and security checks. * Shift to be determined. *The United States has regulations that govern the hiring of current or former U.S. Government employees.
