University Parent Media is a fast growing media company serving the higher education market with a range of offline and online publications. Headquartered in downtown Boulder, we are seeking experienced, highly motivated advertising sales professionals to join our team and help us grow sales in our rapidly expanding local markets.
As a part of our Inside Sales team, you will sell offline and online advertising to local businesses operating in each of the University Markets (100+ and growing monthly) where UPM has publications. Our publications are specifically designed to reach the university parents of our partner institutions, and represent a unique opportunity for local businesses with products or services targeted to university parents (such as lodging, dining, attractions, banking, real estate, etc.)
The position’s core responsibilities:
Generate print and e-media revenue from local advertisers Research local markets to determine top sales prospects across advertising categories Maintain heavy phone contact with current and potential customers (80-100 contacts per day) to establish and grow relationship value Prepare and mail media kits to leads/potential customers and current customers Accurately document sales activity in UPM sales management software Close sales to meet or exceed defined individual and team goals
Skills, experience and characteristics necessary for success:
Previous experience and track record in phone and/or local advertising sales Comfortable with and experience in cold calling Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong emphasis on phone communication Ability to effectively manage large number of prospective and current accounts concurrently, and to quickly/accurately prioritize those with the highest potential Ability to close qualified prospects efficiently Highly self motivated and goal driven
