The University of Texas of the Permian Basin is currently seeking applicants for the full-time position of Information Security Specialist/Chief Information Security Officer.  This position will assist with the design, implementation and monitoring of the institution’s information infrastructure including security and disaster recovery programs. Activities will include the development and implementation of institutional operations and security standards aimed at improving service delivery and improving resource availability for student, faculty and staff users of institutional information services.  This position requires vendor, military and/or industry certification in an appropriate area with 3 years direct information security experience.  A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field and experience in supporting Windows Server environments and information security systems is preferred. Experience should include the design, implementation and monitoring of MS Windows server environments and the implementation of information security strategies in multi-vendor environments. 4 years of progressive information security experience and knowledge of State of Texas computer security regulations preferred. Security certifications such as Microsoft MCP, CISSP, SCNP and/or GIAC are preferred.  Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.125 of the Texas Education Code.  www.utpb.edu EOE/AA
