Description: The Infant Education Coordinator position will be located at the MGH Children's Center in the Charlestown Navy Yard. The Education Coordinator assumes daily administrative responsibility of running the Center when the Director is not present. The Coordinator also has teaching responsibilities and will act as a primary care giver responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of educationally enriched programs that are appropriate to the developmental needs of children served. Design, implement and evaluate curriculum that promotes the educational, social-emotional and physical development of children served. Curriculum should follow NAEYC Guidelines and be based on the developmental needs of the children being served. Be familiar with all policies and procedures (Center, OCCS and Partners). Know where all regulations are located. Assist in enforcing policies and procedures as needed throughout the Center. Work with staff to: ensure that all policies regarding health, safety, and record keeping are being followed; assure that children's and staff records are objective, accurate, updated, and remain confidential. Train and supervise teachers, assistant teachers, students and volunteers. Observe and evaluate their performance and provide ongoing feedback (i.e. through individual Bi-weekly staff meetings). Work with the Director to complete 3 month and annual PHS evaluations in a timely manner. Act as a resource to the staff to: identify current and future goals of the Center; establish, achieve and evaluate program goals; assure that there is consistency in philosophy, curriculum and classroom management and on child development issues. Maintain professionalism in appearance and in written and verbal communication with parents, staff and the community. Act as a resource for families regarding child development issues. Substitute at Partners Boston based childcare centers as needed. Schedule staff. Work with the Director and other PHS centers to bring in substitutes when needed. Confer on a regular basis with the Director to present and discuss matters related to assigned duties and/or policy, procedure or computer systems. Assume responsibility for own professional development, identify learning needs and develop plan to enhance professional development; maintain own annual training requirements. (20 hours per year). Attend all necessary meetings and be present on the 2 annual in-service days. Support Partners Childcare Center Staff and Programs . Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Must be able to lift 50 pounds due to varying levels of children's mobility and activity. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
