We are currently seeking a Senior Manager to join us in our New York City or Short Hills, New Jersey office.

Responsibilities:

* Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues including compliance, advising, and planning
* Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax controversies which includes preparing clients for discussions with auditors, representing the client at hearings and appeal meetings, and preparing protests
* Build relationships with internal and external clients to facilitate identification and delivery of state and local tax services
* Assist federal tax Partners with state tax component of provision reviews
* Research and draft technical memoranda regarding income and franchise tax questions
* Supervise, mentor, and develop staff
* Work on multi-disciplinary teams, and have extensive and direct contact with clients and targets
* Take initiative and maintain a high energy level while attending to day-to-day responsibilities

Qualifications:

* Seven years of experience in a law firm, CPA firm, or in the government industry
* Possess technical proficiency in SALT (State and Local Tax) income/franchise taxation
* Possess Income and Franchise tax skills
* Able to identify issues and opportunities, formulate a value proposition, and secure engagements
* Experience working with large, complex organizations
* Excellent research and writing skills
* Project and team management experience
* Experience working on teams and developing people
* One of the following: Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university and CPA certified, Master's degree in Tax from an accredited college/university and CPA certified, or law degree from an accredited college/university
* Complex understanding of state and local income and franchise taxes, along with experience in planning, research, and compliance
