Job Summary and Mission

 

Manage import transactions, including all related activities for an assigned base of accounts.  Set priorities for team, expediting transactions and tasks to meet customer expectations and government requirements.  Monitor the quality of service, including entry and invoice documents produced by team.  May also perform duties related to documentation preparation and traffic coordination required to correctly process goods through Customs and affect timely delivery. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.

 

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following: Receive, review, and process import documentation for an assigned base of accounts, including the classification and valuation of goods based upon the prepared guidelines or direction of the team leader or Licensed Broker.  Process documents through the established import system. Establish specific new accounts including reviewing all documentation and forms, maintaining communications with clients, reviewing their import process on a regular basis, and maintaining client profiles and databases. Obtain Customs release and other government agency releases as appropriate, arranging delivery, and invoicing the import account.  Process Customs release, OGA release, delivery of cargo, invoice client, and collection of receivables within defined time frames.  Measure team’s performance and identify transaction tasks that require special handling or expediting. Review all Customs entries and client invoice packages prior to distribution. Advises supervisor of any problems or irregularities. Proactively communicate to clients the status of their shipments. Coordinate the release of goods from the carrier, Customs or other governmental agency examinations that may be required. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.


Summary of Experience and Education

High School Diploma or GED. Associate's Degree preferred.  Four to six years related experience. One to three years industry experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Accurate typing skills and/or data entry skills. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using units of U.S. or international currency, weight, volume, and distance measurements. Responds promptly and professionally to customer needs and solicits customer feedback to improve performance. Ability to read, write and speak English fluently. Read, analyze and interpret complex procedures or regulations and write correspondence and procedural documents. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Recommends solutions to common problems. Gives and welcomes feedback, contributes to building a positive team spirit. Consistently at work and on time.
