Onyx Engineering, Inc., (Onyx) is a Texas-based multi-discipline engineering services company that provides engineering, technical and project support services to the refining, petrochemical, pipeline and terminals, power, municipal and commercial industries.

I/E Designer

As the I/E (Instrument / Electrical) Designer, you will perform the following tasks:

·         Interpret and apply codes, job procedures, standards and specifications

·         Interpret and check vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for instrumentation/electrical needs and compatibility of design

·         Perform instrumentation/electrical design calculations including lighting calculations, raceway sizing, wire sizing, voltage drop, cable pulling, panel and breaker sizing and junction box sizing

·         Design, layout, draw and check instrumentation/electrical drawings

·         Perform material take-off

·         Perform estimates based on best available information including man power, cost material, concrete excavations, trends and drawing requirements

·         Perform field verifications to support design scope development, new design and design modifications to a client facility

·         Provide field assistance

·         Assist in the development and training of personnel

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of logic and flow diagrams, symbols, operation and their relationship to electrical design coupled with understanding of instrumentation/electrical drawings. Complete knowledge of instrumentation / electrical material, equipment and computer graphics applications. Proficiency using vendor catalogs essential.
