Works closely with the HR Manager and HR Generalist in providing quality human resources support to all exempt and non-exempt associates in the distribution center. Primary responsibilities of the HR Representative include hourly (non-exempt) associate staffing, associate relations, human resources administration & community relations.
Qualifications ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Assist with hiring process for hourly associates by coordinating job postings, performing reference and background checks, set up of post offer drug screening, and assisting with scheduling interviews. 2. Coordinate new hire/on-boarding process and assist with new hire orientation. Responsible for input of data into the HRMS and other databases. 3. Oversee the organization and maintenance of personnel files in compliance with applicable record retention guidelines. 4. Associate relations- answers questions from associates and management regarding standard policy and procedures. Escalates more complex matters to HR Generalist and/or HR Manager. 5. Supports and assists in the coordination of all associate relations activities such as charitable donation drives and various associate events. 6. Develops business relationships within the community; participates in community events and activities. Positively represents Kmart culture, history, benefits, and positions to candidates considering employment. 7. Responsible for time and attendance tracking for hourly associates and working as payroll back up as needed. 8. Assists with workers compensation and/or FMLA (and other LOA) cases; works closely with HR Manager and /or HR Generalist to ensure that timely, quality, and effective case management support is provided. Maintains all related workers compensation documentation and record keeping. 9. Partners with Loss Prevention to ensure safety training standards are met and assists in making the distribution center a safe environment to work in for all associates. Also responsible for maintaining all safety related database information. 10. Works on other projects and HR related responsibilities as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. High School Diploma required; Associates or Bachelor s degree in Human Resources or related field desired. 2. Minimum of 2-3 years Human Resources experience. 3. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. Must be a person of integrity, possessing highest ethical standards, and should represent oneself in a professional manner at all times. 4. Knowledge of local, state, and federal labor regulations helpful. 5. Effective written and oral communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of distribution center associates. 6. Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills. 7. Must have proficient knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and experience using HRMS systems desired. 8. Very high attention to detail in composing, typing, proofreading materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines. 9. Individual must be dependable and committed to internal as well as external customer service .
