As an integral member of our Human Resources team, you will: Provide HR generalist support to the Rome, GA manufacturing site. Work closely with and provide HR support to the site’s Plant Manager and his/her management team. Develop, implement and manage all human resources activities in compliance with Sara Lee Global Business Standards, standards of performance, objectives and legal requirements. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Be business partner and provide advice and assistance to the site’s Plant Manager and his/her management team regarding HR issues, policies, procedures and plans. Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations under all State and Federal statutes. Monitors exposure for the Company; prepares information requested or required for compliance; coordinates and support audits/reviews by government agencies; coordinates responses to complaints filed by employees with the EEOC, OFCCP or other agencies. Forecasts staffing needs to meet Plant business objectives. Implements staffing strategies, policies and procedures within HR policy and guidelines. Manages employment activities to actively recruit and hire a diverse workforce; assists managers to define position requirements and potential sources of applicants; determines recruitment methods and ensures employment activities are in legal compliance. Conducts new hire employee orientation. Maintains department records and reports. Determines and recommends employee relations programs to maintain a positive and motivated workforce. Advises and counsels managers in handling difficult or sensitive employee relations issues, reviews cases of serious violations of Sara Lee rules governing employee conduct, recommends and implements actions appropriate for conflict resolution, including disciplinary actions. Develops and maintains Plant affirmative action program; maintains records, reports, and logs within EEO regulations. Ensures the proper administration of benefit plans. Communicates with Benefits Team concerning benefits continuation/terminations; advise employees concerning benefits policies, procedures and applicable federal, state and local legislation. Administers Sara Lee’s compensation programs including creation and updates of position descriptions for all Plant positions, compliance of pay practices with Company pay philosophy, procedures and legislated requirements, such as wage & hour laws, equal pay legislation, etc. Ensures developmental activities including annual reviews, performance improvement, and career development plans are administered properly. Acts as a resource for issues concerning the management of employees’ performance. Participates in planning and strategizing projects with management. Manages and represents the Company in the labor relations function, including contract administration, grievance resolution, arbitration procedure, collective bargaining, discipline and other related activities. Assists managers with subordinate development and other related developmental training. Other duties as assigned. Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university. Minimum of five years of functional experience Prior training in maintaining positive employee relations in union/non-union environment is strongly preferred Significant experience and knowledge of labor laws, employee relations trends, programs, policies, etc. Direct experience working in a union and/or manufacturing environment. Proficient in Excel and Word, Microsoft Applications, SAP, and HRIS systems. Cross Functional Team Experience Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
