The HR Generalist supports the HR function as it relates to employee relations, policy and procedure development, safety interpretation, and consistency.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Counsel supervisors and employees on employee relations issues Review all corrective actions for accuracy Assist in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvement Administer and track FMLA/PLOA and OSHA reportables Process unemployment paperwork and attend hearings Assist in administration of compensation program Manage Affirmative Action reporting on quarterly and yearly basis Conduct employee handbook training Works as a partner with trainers to ensure development Assist in coordinating employee recreational activities Process Worker's Compensation claims Serve as a back-up in the HR Director's absence
EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE
Experience handling employee relations issues Requires thorough knowledge of employment policies and practices, legal constraints, and interviewing techniques Experience in all areas of HR management, including; benefits, compensation, training & development, EEOC/AA, and various other aspects Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills Ability to handle extremely confidential and sensitive information with a high level of integrity Self-starter, capable of assessing a situation, making the right decision and following through with minimum supervision Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment Bachelor's degree preferred
