Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director Business Partners the HR Business Partner will focus on specific client group(s) in order to align HR objective with strategic organizational objective. Consults, communicates and implements organizational and human resource initiatives on; business planning & objective development, staffing, performance management, learning & development, compensation & succession planning, absence management, employee relations and policy interpretation.
Viewed by client groups as a partner, coach and resource.
Performs job duties consistent within safety, legal and regulatory requirements; company standards, culture and business practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: § Promotes the organization’s philosophy and values; ensures quality in all areas; and encourages teamwork by coaching and providing support in the department and throughout the organization.
§ Works closely with client group(s) to understand business issues and opportunities. Recommends strategic HR initiatives as a tactical response to address opportunities.
§ Enhances employee and management performance by identifying training and development needs and then making the recommendation to the training & development department.
§ Manages all aspect of employee relations to ensure the uniform and equitable application of the organization’s policies and practices. Coaches managers on the appropriate corrective actions necessary to turn around ineffective behaviors and performance. Records and maintains an employee relations activity reporting system which captures and tracks all employee relations complaints and incidents.
§ Maintains a positive/productive work environment by resolving conflicts between management and associates; coaches supervisors & managers in effective leadership and coaching techniques. Maintains open communications with associates and management.
§ Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducts investigations; represents the organization at hearings; interprets company policy for managers.
§ Implements programs and projects in connection with HR centers of excellence. i.e. Performance management, succession planning, salary planning, etc.
§ Develops with client group(s) effective log-term staffing plans to get the right people, in the right jobs at the right time. Interviews and assists in the selection of qualified candidates. Ensures after hire, the appropriate training is identified and administered.
§ Provides reports, analysis, and interpretation of data on absence rates, retention, cost of hire, etc to client group(s).. Provides solutions to improve key performance measures and works closely to implement programs or processes.
§ Assists in the investigation of EEO and ethics violations
§ Maximizes technology to improve service.
§ Supports employee retention efforts by conducting exit interviews and reports on trends and makes recommendation to reduce turnover.
Additional Duties: Contributes to departmental activities and programs by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of:
· All human resource disciplines including; employee relations, training &development, performance management, compensation, labor relations, recruitment, employment laws and regulations, etc.
Skills:

· Ability to influence/persuade other and gain acceptance/approval of controversial and innovative ideas concepts;

Education/Experience In order to accomplish the essential duties of this position, the incumbent must have:
§ Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources or related field required.
§ SPHR or PHR certification preferred
§ A minimum of 5 years of human resource generalist experience in a medium to large organization.
§ Experience working in a unionized environment preferred.
