The HR Advisor provides professional guidance and support to employees and managers on the Company's people management philosophy, policies and practices. The HR advisor strives to balance employee, organizational and business needs, acting as both employee advocate and as management support, in the role of representative and guardian of the company's employment standards and requirements.
This HR Advisor will report to the Americas Director of Human Resources and be accountable for coaching employees and managers in all aspects of effective people management, acting both as gateway to the full range of services offered by the People organization and personally as a professional adviser who ensures that people management standards are understood and maintained across the organization. As a member of the global HR Operations Team, the HR Advisor teams with colleagues in the HR Shared Services and HR Centers of Excellence groups to ensure the design and delivery of an effective and seamless experience to internal clients, thereby facilitating successful employee and business performance.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Represent the People organization and the HR Operations team to internal clients.
- Assist in implementing and supporting HR programs, policies, processes and tools and ensure legal and local needs are met.
- Partner with and coach managers in effective process execution as employees enter, exit, and transfer within the company.
- Promote effective employee/manager relationships and discussions about performance, competencies, promotions, career development, development plans, 360 feedback and skills.
- Facilitate and participate in manager/employee meetings and interactions.
- Provide situational coaching and counseling to individuals and teams on HR related issues and activities.
- Coach employees and managers in designing and implementing performance plans, action plans and organizational structure plans and changes.
- Assist in budget, workforce and succession planning.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and flow of business and employee data and reports and assist in audits.
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent certification.
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience supporting clients in HR programs, policies, processes and tools.
- Ability to collaborate, resolve conflict, keep confidences and build relationships based on integrity and maintaining the highest ethical standards at all times.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong commitment to Novell's core values and strategic objectives.
- Ability and interest in developing individuals and teams through coaching/mentoring.
- Strong project and change management skills.
