Seeking a Director Human Resources to direct all hospital human resources activities, implementing and adhering to corporate and facility personnel policies and procedures for our El Paso, TX hospital. The Director acts as an employee advocate with current theoretical approaches to the administration of human resources guidelines, applies principles of human resources management through knowledge of EEOC, federal and state labor laws and ADA requirements, and has responsibility for benefits administration, labor relations, file management and JCAHO and AHCA complies. The Director of Human Resources also has responsibility for oversight of employee Health, Volunteer Services and Guest Relations functions. The Director provides department directors and managers with continued guidance in the area of employee relations, maintains current knowledge of human resources related legislation and takes ownership for communicating changes to management and staff as appropriate. This individual also oversees the assessment, improvement and maintenance of service quality in adherence with the hospital’s performance improvement plan and quality assurance initiatives. The Director of Human Resources has responsibility for setting department mission and vision that contributes to the overall hospital mission and vision. This executive also participates in the development of an annual operating and capital budget, monitors expenses and takes corrective action to reverse negative outcomes, and maintains responsibility for the administration of the hospital’s wage and salary functions to provide the most effective and cost efficient programs for recruitment and retention. The Director of Human Resources has a multi-faceted role with primary responsibility for assessing, planning, directing, implementing and evaluating all activities for the department. The Director also has responsibility for providing counseling and disciplinary action, overseeing the development and maintenance of an ongoing Performance Improvement Program for the department, and communicating and collaborating with other staff for problem identification and resolution. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field is required, and a Master’s degree is preferred. Human Resources Management Certification is preferred. At least five years of progressive human resources leadership experience in all functional areas is required, with a preference in the healthcare arena. Must possess a broad knowledge of employment practices and human resources functions. Knowledge of employee and labor relations and contract administration, compliance, benefits administration, worker’s compensation, unemployment, recruiting, retention, HRIS Systems, healthcare trends and legislation combined with strong business acumen. Proven ability to develop training topics and materials based on feedback from the constituents. Excellent consulting and facilitation skills. Strong ability to promote good public relations with patients’ families, visitors, and the community. The ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and to deliver high quality written and verbal presentations. Excellent oral and written presentation skills, as well as strong PC skills. Must listen actively and accurately, encourage input from others. Must coach and correct constructively to improve the performance of team members. Provide clear directions. Maintain an ongoing dialogue with employees to ensure continual progress. Bring out the best in employees. Interpersonally savvy, relating well to diverse groups of people throughout the organization. Able to build rapport and form constructive relationships. Articulate, good conversationalist and possessing a gracious demeanor. Someone who values employees at all levels, treating all with dignity and respect. An individual who is able to relate easily to people from all walks of life; empathetic and compassionate.Healthcare experience preferred.
