Under the direction of the Human Resources Director – South Central Region, will act as a Human Resources Generalist. Will provide H.R. consulting services to Management in assigned territory (Louisiana and East Texas). The primary purpose of the job is to maximize the productive ability of human resources by facilitating the development and maintenance of effective human resources programs and practices, and to provide for the effective administration of all functional areas of Human Resources Management.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with all levels of management within assigned territory to develop work environments, effect culture change, and produce working conditions which maximize effective use of human potential and result in maximum productivity, profitability and job satisfaction.

• Provide consulting and counseling services to Management regarding all functional areas of Human Resources including, but not limited to, Government Compliance Programs, Employment Practices, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Safety, Workers’ Compensation, Company Policy Compliance, Organizational Development, Legal Defense Issues, Wage & Salary Administration, Benefits Administration, Employee Development and Training, etc.

• Will act as resource for employee questions regarding employee relations issues.

• Resolve conflicts or controversies, which may arise between employees, employees and management, or between managers.

• Will provide consultation and activity necessary to attract and retain the level and mix of knowledge and skills required for operations to perform successfully.

• Monitoring of Affirmative Action Plans with the objectives of assigned organizations being in a state of Equal Employment

• Remain contemporary in the field of Human Resources.

• Assist Managers in the development, implementation and use of performance standards and evaluation/appraisal systems.

• Provide administrative services as necessary to ensure all above duties and functions are performed successfully.

• Administer and monitor salary planning and approved salary administration plans.

• Work with Training and Development Manager in the development and implementation of Training and Development Programs.

• Coordinate with Regional H.R. Director, the formulation and/or modification of Human Resource policies.

• Coordinate with Administrators and Plant Managers to ensure a complete understanding of HR procedures/practices.

• Work with assigned organizational management and the Compensation Department in the development of compensation systems and the evaluation of new jobs.

• Coordinate employment procedures in accordance with corporate policy assuring cost effective recruiting and that new employees are properly processed and oriented.

• Coordinate with Director of Safety and Safety Managers to ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local programs, as well as, the Company & business unit programs.

• Coordinate the development of HR Business Plan with each Plant Manager addressing issues of organization, safety, training, community relations and compensation programs.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Related Discipline. 5 – 7 years of equivalent human resources experience will be

considered.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Experience as a Human Resources Professional including several of the above listed functions. A background in compensation, safety, workers’ compensation, legal and governmental compliance programs in an industrial setting is preferred.

• Strong P.C. Skills (MS Office / Windows environment)

• Experience with PC or Web based HR Info Systems. Ceridian HRIS experience preferred

• Able to communicate effectively with employees at all levels.

• Innovative. Able to handle position responsibility with creativity.

• Knowledge of Governmental regulations and requirements. (EEO, AAP, OSHA, MSHA, DOT, DOL, Workers’ Compensation, State Employment Commissions, etc.)
