Healthcare Consultant are one of the more senior client delivery individuals within the Eclipsys consulting practice. Practice Directors have a passion for client service, solving client problems and developing strong and effective client relationships. They are capable of leading, managing and delivering as required on multiple projects or single, complex clinical consulting engagements. In conjunction with the Eclipsys Field Operations they comprise the Project Leadership team responsible for client satisfaction and the overall client relationship. Practice Directors are responsible for the direct supervision and mentoring of consulting staff, as well as coordinating with Solution Directors on the development and professional activities within the consulting services.
Responsibilities
Line management:
• Manage and mentor consultants on an assigned project
• Manage two or more other consulting staff
Project Responsibilities:
• Provide clarification on engagement scope, objectives and roles/responsibilities for consulting team assigned to project
• Lead multiple small engagements or one large, complex engagement.
• Participate or lead current state, future state or other assessment processes
• Contribute to the client account strategy with RVP, sales and field operations
• In conjunction with Project Director/Manager establish and maintain executive client relationships and assist in assessing and addressing project risks.
• Ensure alignment with project management around workplan, and milestones
• Implement and oversee the timeliness and quality of consulting services deliverables
• Effectively manage the team of consulting resources and day-to-day relationships
• Assure adequate staffing and representation of subject matter experts to complete deliverables and reach milestones
• Meet utilization targets of 60-65%
Practice Responsibilities:
• Participate in knowledge transfer and ongoing methodology development through sharing and documentation of project-related assets and leading practices
• Develop and deliver at least one eConnect to the practice and/or company on project/practice related initiatives
• Review/revise scope and staffing for statement of work as required.
• Responsible for mentoring and advocating for staff with the goal of increased retention and satisfaction
• Responsible for the accurate and timely performance evaluations for direct reports
• Communicate with other managers via engagement updates to contribute toward the employee’s performance appraisal
• Participate in the development and presentation of proposals for sales activities
• Participate on client mediation projects as required
• Education – 80 hours year 1, 40 hours year 2 and beyond

Required Education/Experience:
• Undergraduate degree in business, nursing, or a related medical/clinical degree required, Advanced degree such as MBA, MHA, MPH or a Masters in Nursing preferred
• Experience in process redesign and quality improvement
• 6 -10 years experience working in a senior position of a health care provider, organization, vendor or another consulting firm at a manager level or higher
• Greater than 5 years experience on a full-life cycle managing a clinical IT project
• Possess a successful track record of managing high performance, interdisciplinary teams to meet project milestones and performance metrics
• Strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills
Competencies required for promotion consideration (Director ? Senior Director):
• At least 4-5 years experience managing, leading and delivering consulting services over multiple simultaneous engagements
• Ability to build high functioning teams capable of self-direction
• Provide effective remote guidance to project teams
• Successfully led complex engagements to completion
• Effectively managed people at the manager level with a history of leading them to advancement
• Demonstrated ability to advance the practice through one or more of the following:
o Add on sales or successful participation in sales calls
o Significant contribution to methodology development
o Led a consulting, professional services or other Eclipsys initiative that led to measureable improvement
• Received positive evaluations in 360 reviews, from peers, direct reports and team members.
80-100% travel nationwide will be required
