DATE AVAILABLE: July 2008 JOB TITLE: Coordinator of Student Health and Counseling Services DEPARTMENT: Student Health and Counseling Services, Student Affairs REPORTS TO: Associate Director, Student Health and Counseling Services POSITION OVERVIEW: The position oversees the SVA-sponsored student health insurance and implementing the requirements of the New York State Department of Health regarding Post Secondary Immunizations. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Administrative • Assist students will accessing appropriate physical and mental health services. • Sensitivity and discretion regarding confidential services and records while working with students and the SVA community. • Implements student programs on various physical and mental health issues. • Maintain information on My SVA. • Attend staff meetings and be an active team member. • Attend conferences and workshops as needed. Insurance • Provide information about the policy to students and their families. • Assist students with filing insurance claims. • Maintain positive working relations with SVA-sponsored student insurance carrier and insurance agent. Immunizations • Daily data entry of all immunization information received. • Initiate communication and correspondence with incoming students in order to assist them with becoming compliant with immunization requirements. • Run monthly immunization reports and follow-up with students and their academic advisors. • Print/purge immunization records as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s Degree • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, listening, and oral and written communication skills. Meticulous attention to detail required. Accurate data entry skill. • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and perform well under pressure. • Able to use initiative and work independently. • Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office. • Flexibility and willingness to work weekend and evening hours as necessary. • Preference given to those with health and customer service experience. • Preference will go to candidates with long-term interest in working in college health and student affairs.
