Think Whats Possible. * Manage a Local Service Center (LSC) within the IT Infrastructure organization * To maximize business value and opportunities through the effective and relevant use of technology namely through effective alignment of IT investment with the needs and size of the business * To achieve the most efficient operations providing highest business value through effective management of IT resources (people, financial resources, services) * To develop an environment which fosters a high-performance and innovative organization * To leverage global economies by shaping and supporting global IT direction and guidelines * Effective alignment of IT investment * Provide key investment advice to improve the effective use of IT resources, investments and budgets. Offer an assessment as to the capabilities of the organization to take on risk (in the form of business-IT projects) and deliver against sponsor expectations. * Develop an IT Service Delivery strategy in collaboration with Business Applications IT that supports the future business development and operations. May be involved in inputting this into the global and regional strategy development and influence/persuade for its acceptance. To progressively unify the IT organization and working processes to meet business needs and industry best practice. * Plan the IT Infrastructure for the LSC, ensuring sound business cases and analyzing key business initiatives and informational needs that support, improve and/or transform business operations, processes and strategy. * Develop and deliver global, country, or local support in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLA) based on business needs and Business Applications IT strategies. To work closely with Business Applications IT peers in understanding and responding to both long-term and short-term business goals and strategy. * To achieve the most efficient operations * Ensure the continuous improvement, rationalization and management of existing systems and operations. To initiate and support projects and their delivery in accordance with project goals, time scales and costs and agreed organizational working processes, e.g. the CRYSTAL Portfolio System. * Identify and/or collaborate and negotiate with a number of selected external partners with a broad offering to facilitate system operations and/or development and/or integration, ensuring reliability, competence, flexibility and cost effectiveness. * To develop an environment which fosters a high-performance and innovative organization * Ensure continuity in IT leadership and succession planning and be available for coaching of staff in both functional and core competencies. * Ensure specific focus on talent management, ensuring continuous development and mentoring of all talents and giving them additional exposure within the organization (with special focus on high potentials) * Ensure continuous training needs identified for succession and career development of staff * Serve as a mentor and role model. Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct and behavior in dealings with staff, colleagues, customers and outside contacts. * Collaborate with other IT and business managers to leverage opportunities of job enrichment and development opportunities for staff * To shape and support global IT direction and guidelines * Ensure proper implementation of global standards, policies and system platforms and when appropriate to develop the technical standards, policies and system platforms for the country, area or region that ensures efficient use of information management investments and secure operation. * Ensure organizational plans and initiatives are uniformly understood and properly interpreted by IT practitioners and that all IT activity complies with regulations and laws governing business operations. * Share and collaborate with other IT Infrastructure and Business Applications IT senior managers to synchronize and leverage learning and best practices across Novartis
