The Mobile and M2M Products Group of Sierra Wireless is recruiting for a Hardware Engineering Manager.  This Group delivers wireless data solutions that enable pervasive connectivity to fixed and mobile assets. Job Description:

Participate in development of requirements and design for new hardware platformsManage the implementation of new products using remote or outsourced resourcesManage the qualification of new products through environmental and regulatory testingManage the qualification of new products for cellular carrier testingTake engineering ownership of products currently in production – these products are frequently updated with new radio modules or other components which must be qualified.Work with New Product Introduction team to transition products into manufacturing and be able to personally transition products into manufacturing.Travel will be required, but will be less than 10 percent.

Must Have Qualifications:

5 years experience with PCB design and layout, and working knowledge of the full PCB development process5 years+  relevant project management experienceStrong attention to detail and follow-through on outstanding issues and corrective actionsAble to plan and manage multi-disciplinary project schedules on time and budgetWorking knowledge of DFM, DFT, DVT, and Manufacturing IssuesExperience with product certification testing and/or wireless carrier certification testingExperience with a fast paced, customer driven development environmentExperience with design and manufacture of high volume, cost sensitive productsAbility to manage several product developments concurrentlyExcellent oral and written communications skills

 Nice to Have Qualifications:

Experience managing remotely located teamsBackground in mechanical designBackground in cellular datacom or telecom.Experience with startup company environment.BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
