Sales Training Manager - Mountain ViewThis position is based in Mountain View, CA.The area: Online Sales and Operations, Training and DevelopmentGoogle's Online Sales and Operations (OSO) Training & Development team is responsible for developing OSO employees -- from teaching product knowledge and job skills beginning at the time they're hired to developing leadership and professional skills throughout their careers. We are also responsible for educating our external customers / partners on AdWords, Google Apps and other products. We use a variety of teaching methods with both our internal and external customers, including eLearning, Information and Learning Technologies (ILT), mentoring, workshops, activities and more.
The role: Sales Training ManagerAs a Sales Training Manager, you'll drive the vision and strategic direction in creating scalable and effective learning solutions which will increase the competencies of the OSO team to deliver solution-based selling and drive revenue. You'll analyze the current sales skills of the existing Online Sales team, identify gaps and strategic opportunities, and define a sales training vision for the organization to further expand Googles presence globally in partnership with the business. You will then implement an ongoing multi-faceted training and change management program through identifying, selecting and managing suitable vendors, as well as managing a small internal team of sales training specialists. Among your many attributes, you are a seasoned, influential salesperson and training program manager, who deals well with ambiguity and can drive organizational change. You are a natural leader with excellent communication and project management skills who builds strong relationships with multiple stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Perform a current state analysis of sales skills gaps, define a sales training vision and short-term / long-term training strategy, and develop a sales training program proposal for the Online Sales team.
Liaise and partner with cross functional teams, senior management and business owners to develop and get buy-in for the vision, strategy, and program details.
Build and maintain a structure to support sales training for the Online Sales Team (vendor selection and management; hiring, training and managing internal sales trainers).
Manage and provide direction on design and development of a comprehensive sales training curriculum that includes foundational and advanced sales skills, consultative selling, up-selling and cross-selling.
Identify measurable success factors for the sales training program and work to continuously improve the program.
Qualifications: High caliber BA/BS degree from a leading academic institution.
At least 6 years of sales experience.
At least 4 years of experience in sales training design and delivery.
At least 4 years of experience managing people.
Experience managing change in a large organization.
Ability to learn new products and technology quickly, with basic knowledge/familiarity of Google products preferred (AdWords, AdSense, Checkout, YouTube, BookSearch, Gmail, Calendar, Docs/Spreadsheets, iGoogle, etc.).
Experience managing 3rd party sales training vendors preferred.
