This position is based in Mountain View, CA.Google's Hardware Operations team consists of diverse, upbeat, creative, team-oriented engineers and managers who design and operate some of the most sophisticated systems in the world. This fast-growing group develops, builds and supports the physical infrastructure behind Google's products.

The Data Center Global Process group manages process and functional areas in a broad range of technical areas including hardware, networking, and system administration. We are looking for people to manage and design process and procedures throughout our organization globally.
We are looking for extremely creative, technical, bright and capable people to act as process and solutions architects.
This job is part project manager, part business process analyst, and part senior systems engineer. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate senior level design experience, and project management experience, as well as being able to demonstrate very strong written and oral communication skills.
A strong background in IT infrastructure, technology development/deployment or computing sciences is essential for your success in this position. Being a master of all technological fields is impossible, but you will need to demonstrate your proficiency in areas you have been exposed to. Project and people management experience is a strong plus.
Responsibilities: Document, analyze, upgrade and/or replace operational processes and procedures as required.
Be the lead communicator on process between various projects and groups, and the functional area(s).
Travel throughout Google to educate and be educated about Google infrastructure.
Encourage innovation, process improvements and solutions with the functional area(s).
Be the functional and process advocate on design teams for the group.
Identify areas for improvements in existing technology and processes.
Analyze performance of functional areas and identify opportunities for improvement (metrics maintenance).
Maintain a "systems level/big picture" perspective on process, focusing on maintainability, full product life-cycle, upgradeability, etc.
Perform and maintain cost benefits analysis on existing and/or new processes. Qualifications: BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Engineering and 4 years in an IT-related field.
5+ years of Linux or Unix system administration.
5+ years of experience with data center infrastructure or other large scale infrastructure.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels.
Demonstrated skills in operations, systems/process design and business process mapping.
Proven track record of Senior level systems/process design and execution.
