Book Search Operations Supervisor - Mountain ViewThis position is based in Mountain View, CA.The Area: Online Sales and OperationsThe Online Sales and Operations team keeps Google growing and profitable. We are dedicated to supporting the company's growing base of advertisers, publishers and users in more than 40 languages on a global basis, and providing them with the highest levels of service. We are responsible for generating revenue from a broad range of products such as AdWords, AdSense, Gmail and Google Earth. This means that OSO team members need to be proactive, motivated, organized, responsible - and able to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
The Role: Book Search Operations SupervisorIn this position you will work on the Google Book Search project helping to digitize the worlds books. In doing so your primary objective will be to manage the day to day operations, implement process improvements, and supervise a diverse production team. Other initiatives will include and driving quality control, material management, and software tool evaluation.
Responsibilities:
Run the day to day operations in conjunction with management support from the staffing agency to ensure daily targets are reached.
Monitor daily production, collect and analyze data in order to recognize trends and potential problem areas.
Assess and document existing processes. Implement and evaluate changes to existing processes designed to enhance productivity or quality. Develop new processes as required.
Forecast production time, staffing requirements, production scheduling, production capability and the costs that are related.
Create production schedules and ramp-up projections.
Qualifications: Four year degree preferably in Engineering or Operations Management.
Production experience desirable.
Some technical experience associated with equipment maintenance or system administration, etc. desirable.
Familiarity with common computer software packages, especially spreadsheet capability.
