GeoDesign, Inc. serves owners, contractors, design firms, and developers on a full array of public and private sector projects. Our diversified projects include foundations and earthworks, construction engineering and field services, dam rehabilitation and design, urban redevelopment, infrastructure and environmental site restoration.
Position and Qualifications
We seek team-oriented, energetic self-starters to join GeoDesign, Inc. in our CT, VT, and NYC offices for the following position:
Geotechnical Project Manager
GeoDesign’s Geotechnical Project Manager should expect to:
§ Have frequent client contact and must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and management.
§ Execute a wide range of geotechnical design assignments. Typical assignments may include: developing and managing geotechnical explorations programs; design of earth-retaining structures; slope stability analysis; design of ground improvement; design of underpinning; foundation design; settlement analyses; liquefaction analyses; seismic evaluation, and development of plans and specifications.
§ Define project scopes with clients and/or GeoDesign principals; prepare proposals, provide daily financial, managerial and technical oversight of projects to achieve successful project completion and client satisfaction.
§ Engage in career advancement and professional development through frequent peer/mentoring training, and attendance at professional and technical seminars.
§ Provide professional guidance and technical expertise to junior staff for their career advancement and training.
§ Develop geotechnical recommendations for design and construction of private and public projects. Supervise technical staff performing specific field, analytical, and project administrative responsibilities under your general direction.
§ Supervise technical staff performing fieldwork activities such as logging subsurface explorations, observing and documenting deep and shallow foundation installation, earthwork operations, and substructure construction.
§ Acquire the experience, technical skills, and management capacity to execute larger and more complicated projects.
§ Supervise technical staff performing specific field, analytical, and project administrative responsibilities under your general direction.
§ Be capable of well-developed interpersonal and presentation skills;
§ Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic and diverse environment;
§ Be open to learning all company services and providing input to business development and corporate leadership.
§ Be positive, creative and team-oriented. Enjoy learning and sharing knowledge with others for the success of the company.
Qualifications
Required education/experience: B.S. degree in Civil Engineering (required), M.S. degree (preferred) in Geotechnical or Environmental Engineering; P.E. registration (or ability to obtain); a minimum of ten years professional experience, and hands-on field experience (preferred).
Candidate must be able to carry equipment up to 50 lbs, have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and a dependable vehicle. Assignments are typically within commuting distance. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
