Position Description:
Reports to: Vice President Business Development, Schneider Logistics Location: Ideally, the SCAS General Manager will be located in either Schneider Logistics’ Green Bay, WI or Farmington Hills, MI office. Other locations within a 1-2 hour trip to these offices will be acceptable. Introduction: Schneider Logistics is recruiting for a General Manager, Supply Chain Advisory Services. The Supply Chain Advisory Services combines Schneider Logistics technology, analytics, and unmatched transportation and logistics industry expertise for operating executives who wish to leverage our capabilities outside a typical outsourcing relationship. Our clients engage with us either on a project or retainer basis. The Supply Chain Advisory Service offering provides value through three main areas: Supply Chain Design, Transportation Procurement and Professional Services. • Supply Chain Design - design and optimize your logistics network balancing transportation, inventory, and transportation costs against your service requirements. Identify tactical and strategic opportunities to reduce transportation cost and improve on-time delivery performance • Transportation Procurement Services - Transportation procurement lifecycle management across all modes of transportation using experienced transportation procurement professionals, bid management technology, rate benchmarking capabilities and an extensive market rate knowledge. • Professional Services - leverage Schneider's resources on an on-going basis for project management, transportation procurement / carrier management and supply chain diagnostics. Position Objective: Drive Supply Chain Advisory Services (SCAS) revenue and earnings growth by providing commercial leadership and direction for SCAS. This role is heavily focused on service development, market awareness and sales channel development. Additionally, this leader will actively participate and support in the SCAS sales process working closely with direct and indirect sales channels. This role will have overall profit and loss responsibilities for SCAS in North America. Accountabilities 1. Service Development a. Enhance and extend SCAS product suite that capitalizes on Schneider Logistics capabilities and qualifications b. Establish and manage strategic plans which achieve profitability and long-range growth while meeting overall business objectives - insure all support functions and related department understand their roles, including sales 2. Service Delivery a. Develop and manage delivery methodology, engagement management processes and quality system for service delivery b. Develop and manage resource pool for service delivery. Matrix across other operational departments for delivery team resources. c. Develop and manage strategic alliances for service delivery with complementary solution providers and consultants 3. Sales Channel Development and Support a. Work closely with marketing and sales channels to establish target customer base and prospecting campaigns b. Develop and manage indirect sales channels through alliances c. Create a comprehensive marketing program d. Actively participate in major sales, providing technical expertise and involving other executives as appropriate e. Work with sales leadership to properly incent sales channels to help meet SCAS objectives 4. Commercial Leadership a. Develop and manage strategic alliances for both indirect sales channels and service delivery b. Establish pricing guidelines and models for service offerings c. Provide commercial leadership in contract development and negotiation d. Establish and manage budgets and forecasts for service line
Qualifications:
Required Background and Experience: 1. College degree, masters preferred 2. Minimum 7 years in the logistics industry 3. Minimum of 5 years in business development or product development 4. Ideally a minimum of 2 years of international logistics experience 5. Experience in sales support and alliance management 6. P&L experience ($3M to $10M) Required Interpersonal Skills: 1.
