This is a tremendous career opportunity for an experienced General Manager to lead plant operations located in Sturgis, Michigan. This 100,000 sq. ft. plant has 300 employees and 25 presses producing sales up to 50 million. This person will direct, administer and coordinate the activities of the plant, including Manufacturing (injection molding, painting, and assembly), Quality, Materials, Human Resources, Maintenance and Engineering. We are looking for a hands-on GM with extensive experience in our products and processes, who is accustomed to meeting the stringent quality demands of the automotive industry. Candidate must be dedicated to such lean manufacturing systems as Kanban, JIT, Heijunka, and Poke Yoke. Position reports directly to a Regional Director of Manufacturing and will be on the plant floor overseeing and improving the production methods of molding, assembly, and secondary decorative processes to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets. The successful candidate will have the leadership skills, experience and in-depth knowledge to insure that Summit’s procedures and policies are effectively practiced and documented. Summit Polymers is looking for a systems oriented candidate to join a strong technical staff.
Candidate must have management experience in automotive manufacturing. Requirements include a minimum of 5 years experience at a technical or management level, including working knowledge of injection molding, assembly and painting processes, budgeting and costing, quality control procedures and human resources management plus a 4-year degree or total equivalent relevant experience. Qualified candidates need a combination of hands-on expertise, relevant experience, education and talent.
