P&G is creating a stand-alone, publically traded coffee company called the Folgers Coffee Company. This business will have a split-off or spin-off transaction occur in our next fiscal year beginning in July 2008. The new company will be headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio and its manufacturing sites (Kansas City, New Orleans, and Sherman, TX) will remain in tact. The coffee business will get greater priority and attention as a stand-alone company. The brands that will be included in this new company are: Folgers, Millstone, Brothers, Dunkin Donuts, Maryland Club/Butternut, Tender Leaf Tea, and Venetos. Folgers is the leading retail coffee brand in North America. The business operates with attractive operating margins and is a strong cash generator. Folgers has sales of approximately $1.6 billion and operating income of about $350 million in fiscal 2007.   This role is part of the Folgers Company and by applying to this position you are confirming your interest in this company. Mechanical Technologist/Packing Technology Leader

 

The Folgers Coffee Company is a $1.6 Billion business, headquartered in Cincinnati, with approximately 1250 employees in North America and approximately 200 employees based in Cincinnati. The company has 4 manufacturing sites in the US (2 in New Orleans, 1 each in Kansas City, MO and Sherman, TX).  This entrepreneurial Company is the market leader (40+ share) in the US and is poised to use its agility to build on that leadership. In addition to mainstream market leadership, the Folgers Coffee Company manufactures the fastest growing gourmet brand and has a multi-year portfolio of product, package, and commercial innovation to drive future growth.  The engineering function will be split between the site and central organizations with execution & manufacturing support being owned by the sites and innovation being delivered centrally in collaboration with R&D. The individual in this role will have responsibilities that directly impact the business results and success of the Folgers Coffee Company.   

 

The Responsibilities for the Role Include:

Frequent interaction with AD's/Directors and leadership of the Folgers Coffee Company up to and including the CEO.Lead the overall technical design and delivery engineering from the conceptual phase until effective handoff to site delivery team of new packing systems that build capacity and deliver initiatives. The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the technical correctness of the design through execution and start-up of the packing (P&G and Engineering Contractors) engineering. The role involves integrating engineering activities across the engineering disciplines and working effectively with R&D. Manage the technical execution plan according to the success criteria. Collaborate with operational team and technology leaders to incorporate their needs, and insure that the proper technical standards are being maintained. Champion the use of proven engineering principles (EWP, reliability engineering, & GSUM tools) to deliver a vertical start-up and meet project schedule needs. Proactive identification of risks, opportunities and alternatives including benchmarketing other businesses for learning reapplication. The candidate will be a key member of Business leadership teams. In addition to delivering the project deliverables this role will involve close collaboration with R&D product and package groups. The candidate will integrate within the technical community bringing key engineering and packing skills to the teams working on upstream initiatives, cost savings, and capacity programs. Be responsible for a capability area.

This role is part of the new Folgers Coffee Company. The selected candidate will move to the Folgers Coffee Company upon separation of the business, targeted for this summer. The Qualifications for the Role Include:

LEADERSHIP: Demonstrated talent for anticipating issues and formulating positive and persuasive recommendations that lead to sound decisions and pragmatic solutions. Demonstrated ability to lead a multi discipline engineering team of P&G and engineering contractors. Demonstrated ability to effectively understand the customer and overall project needs from a technical, business and environmental standpoint.
TECHNICAL MASTERY: Demonstrated expert in designing and start-up of packing systems.  Demonstrated capability to use and apply P&G Engineering/Technical systems/IM Pillar systems to capital projects (EWP, Change Management, BVOA, vendor and supplier VAT, GSUM, etc) is desirable.  Demonstrated knowledge of cGMP. Ability to work upstream initiatives in conceptual and developmental phases.
COLLABORATION: Establish positive and productive working relationships, to integrate and focus a multi-discipline engineering team on project objectives. Strong collaboration with operational team to incorporate their needs, but at the same time and insure that the project objectives and success criteria are being maintained. Ability to influence others to bring change to the organization.
CAPABILITY BUILDING: Significant experience in applying engineering/design tools developing new equipment and related processes. Demonstrated successful project delivery experience of complex projects. Successful experience on leading new projects and operational system start-ups. Ability to build both systemic and people capability while executing project work.
PRIORITY SETTING: Able to manage multiple priorities with the right amount of focus while keeping the overview of the total project. Demonstrated capability in priority setting, managing changes, focusing and owning results.COMMUNICATION: Ability to communicate effectively, constructively and timely.
ATTITUDE: Demonstrated passion for delivering best value on time and being unstoppable in pursuit of success criteria.
