Job Summary:
Responsible for capital asset tracking from construction in progress to in-service, maintaining and tracking fixed asset depreciation (actual vs. budget), and interface with Corporate on audit and policy and procedure related matters. In addition, ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines. This position requires GAAP knowledge and research abilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Maintain the structural integrity of the Chart of Accounts and fixed asset sub-ledger.
· Manage the completeness and accuracy of project accounting through coordination with Construction, Engineering, and Supply Chain Management teams, including the transition from under construction to in-service.
· Assist with the timely period-end close of the general ledger. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and reconciliations of fixed assets. Prepare and review analysis of various accounts verifying that transactions and policies are reflected properly on financial statements.
· Prepare journal entries, automated and manual, to ensure adherence to the company’s accounting policies and proper application of GAAP.
· Assist with preparing financial reports to assure their integrity, completeness, and accuracy.
· Assist with financial statement preparation and consolidation.
· Assist with audit requests and other ad-hoc analysis requests related from business units.
· Assist with Sarbanes Oxley 404 compliance, documentation and testing.
Additional Duties:
This position performs special projects and other related duties as assigned and contributes corporate and department activities.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance and a CPA license is preferred. A minimum 4 years relevant experience in corporate accounting for a large public company is required. A combination of major public accounting and public company experience is highly preferred. Telecommunications industry experience highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· An in-depth understanding of the practical application of GAAP.
· Strong analytical skills with the ability to review results, identify anomalies, and take appropriate follow-up action.
· Strong team player with excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
· Experience with Oracle and Hyperion, preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Access, Outlook; Advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables, merges, macros, statistical formulas).
