Description: To support Cox Media sales through analysis of sales, operating and financial activity including budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis as well as provide reporting and analysis aimed at supporting and improving local sales performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides financial support and prepares financial and business analysis and research to Cox Media for all revenue streams and the associated direct costs supporting those revenue streams including, but not be limited to: sales impact and expense analysis, budget / planning support, month end close, variance analysis, efficiency analysis, market analysis, industry analysis, client analysis and product analysis.
Compiles and prepares reports, graphs, and charts of data developed.
Performs detailed statistical and financial analysis utilizing data collected from financial accounting systems or other database systems.
Completes sales analysis with emphasis on growth, new revenue streams, profitability, margin, and payback in order to clearly understand expected financial impact as well as build a historical library of known success and concerns.
Solicits feedback from key work group with respect to information needs. Communicates and explains financial impacts.
Generates and provides timely, up-to-date key information to Business Manager, VP & General Manager and other department management and staff in order to facilitate the decision-making process including: actuals, budget / forecast information, trend analysis, metric reporting, etc.
Develops and maintains key performance indicators (KPIs).
Completes requested analysis for new sales opportunities and for enhancing existing product lines, and also proactively provides alternative options designed to further increase strategic market position and improved financial performance.
Performs all other financial duties as assigned by management. Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS:
B.A. or B.S. degree in Accounting, Finance or related business discipline. CPA / CMA and/or MBA desired.
Experience: 2 to 5 years experience in financial analysis / planning, preferably in the media industry.
Must have experience in business cycle planning including: budgeting, forecasting, and trend analysis
Strong knowledge of financial and accounting concepts (accruals, expenditures, purchase requisitions, forecasts, cost benefit analysis, etc.)
Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications (including Excel, & PowerPoint).
Advanced knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Excel for financial and business modeling.
Must be an effective communicator (face to face and via E-Mail) and good listener.
Superior critical thinking skills.
Ability to research and analyze data.
Knowledge of Oracle and Hyperion Essbase applications preferred.
Strong customer focus.
Must be able to work well with various functional skill sets.
