DESCRIPTIONProvide accounting expertise and execution within the Global Petroleum Accounting organization. The Petroleum Financial Accounting team is a global financial department covering the general Financial Accounting for the entire Petroleum organization. This recently-formed group will be responsible for establishing global standards around finance and accounting processes worldwide while providing accounting and analytical support on a global basis.
This position reports to Finance Lead - Financial Reporting.
ACCOUNTABILITIESExecution of General Financial Accounting Team Processes
Compliance with Global Petroleum accounting policy Coordinate key inputs directly from the Business Partners within the division for finance processes and reporting Identify areas of continual improvement and propose corrective action where necessary Ensure timely delivery, completeness and accuracy of all standardized reports generated by the Petroleum Accounting team nation of month-end schedule for PetroleumExecution of Global Standards for Key Finance/Accounting Processes
Comply with established of standards, control processes and drive global consistency in methodologies around the following areas:
Perform monthly financial reporting for Global Other activities (Flash, Balance sheet review, cash flow) Maintain short term economic model for budgeting / forecasting requirements Portfolio Valuation Review requirements Accounting contact for Building Services activities Monitor Pension Fund accounting and employee provisions within Shared Service Centers Accounting for intangible assets Establishment and control of bank accounts (including interface with Treasury) Sundry receivables and prepayments Interest bearing liabilities Contingent liabilities accounting and reporting Insurance accounting for Global Petroleum PLT and Divisional Resource accruals Authority for Expenditure (AFEs) and all associated governance and control processes (close-out, supplements, amendments)Execute processes of all finance and accounting activities related to divested assets including:
Accounting for closure plans Budgets and forecasts Invoice processing Expense accruals Overriding royalty revenue accounting US MMS royalty interest calculation Balance sheet review items Master data setup request Provide input on Annual statutory accounts for divested assets Insurance accounting for divested assets Provide input on Tax accounting and tax compliance for divest assetsSarbanes-Oxley Requirements for Petroleum General Accounting Team
Responsible for SOX certification of assigned financial controls and processes owned Ensure appropriate documentation and ownership for all key controls within the Petroleum Accounting Remediation items related to SOX deficiencies and internal audit findings EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Business with a strong accounting representation CPA preferred but not required Three to eight years of professional experience, preferably in upstream O&G Superior interpersonal skills to handle various customer and stakeholder groups Experience in financial accounting, reporting and overall governanceTHINK OF THE OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN BHP BILLITON.
