Isilon Systems is looking for a top caliber FSE Manager for the Eastern Area. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of 9 pre-sales Field Systems Engineers. The successful candidate will have the range of skills necessary to assist in handling complex technical sales cycles, and to motivate and lead a team of Field Systems Engineers. While the FSE Manager is not an individual contributor, it is expected that this candidate has a strong technical background in the areas described below. This position will play a significant role in driving sales in the Eastern Area. This is a key position within our company where your drive, determination and creativity can make a big impact on our success.
Responsibilities:
* Work closely with the Senior Director of Global Systems Engineers and the Northeast and Southeast Area Sales Directors to support the selling process
* Successfully develop the technical skills of Field Systems Engineers
* Work with Isilon Field System Engineers to develop the skills of Isilon Smart Partners, and drive overall engagement with Smart Partners
* Assist in managing the processes necessary to create qualitatively effective Isilon Field Systems Engineers
* Assist in the engagement with Customer Support, and manage effective hand-offs from Sales to Customer Support Requirements: Experience building and managing a large team of pre-sales Field Systems Engineers is required
Technical Expertise and Background:
* UNIX OS, NFS file systems and UNIX distributed network environment
* Windows 4.0, 3.1, SMB and CIFS files systems
* Installation/configuration of distributed computing, multiprocessing, virtual memory subsystem, storage subsystems architecture, shared memory architectures, cache architectures, windowing systems
* Local Area Networking, Ethernet, TCP/IP, general networking * Thorough understanding of the architecture, design and implementations of multi-tiered client/server and web-based computing solutions
* Knowledge and familiarity with related third party products in Web and Content Delivery Network architectures
* Superior knowledge of current and emerging storage architectures (FC, iSCSI, NAS, OSD, SAN)
*50% travel required
