Yoh Engineering has a contract opportunity for a Field Service Technician to join our customer in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Up to 90% travel is required with this position.

Job Description
• Field Service Technician participates in the design of the vehicle installation and documentation of Advanced Public CAD/AVL systems in the Public Transit Industry.
• Defines vehicle electrical interfaces and mechanical layout of the system.
• Performs prototype installations to verify the system design documentation, system integration, and vehicle functionality are correct.
• Work closely with customer maintenance personnel to coordinate system installation, vehicle availability, pre- and post-installation inspections, and maintaining installation logs.
• Lead, coordinate and train subcontracted installation crews.
• Prepares material for installations.
• Assign daily tasks for subcontracted personnel.
• Performs pre- and post-installation acceptance testing on each vehicle.
• Assist in troubleshooting issues.
• Install system software and maintain system data configurations.

Requirements
• Must be able to read electrical and mechanical drawings, circuit diagrams, wire lists, etc.
• Must be computer literate with solid math, microprocessor, troubleshooting and programming skills.
• Must have an understanding of mobile vehicle radio, mobile data terminals, audio and analog circuits and GPA hardware.
• Must be able to follow procedures and instructions to troubleshoot mobile transit hardware and software systems.

Additional Requirements
• Requires an AA from a 2 year college or technical school along with 1 year of experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Also requires ability to work with decimals and fractions on drawings and measuring instruments;  use of multimeter and scopemeter.

Frequent Travel
• Up to 90% travel in the US (travel could also include Canada).
