Job Description: MWH, a recognized leader in Hydropower worldwide, is seeking a Field Engineer for the Willow Island Hydroelectric Project.
MWH is serving as the Owner's Engineer for the Willow Island Hydroelectric Project, which will be on the West Virginia shore of the Ohio River, at the existing Willow Island Locks and Dam Project, near Parkersburg, West Virginia.The project will include a reinforced concrete powerhouse with two horizontal bulb-type turbine generating units with an estimated total capacity of 37 MW at a gross operating head of 20 feet, intake and tailrace channels, a concrete gravity dam, and a three mile transmission line.
The first phase of construction will start in the summer of 2008 and will consist of the cellular and earthen cofferdam construction and powerhouse excavation.The second phase will start in late 2009 and consist of the powerhouse construction, installation and startup of the generating units, balance of plant construction, intake and tailrace channel excavation, and cofferdam removal.The anticipated duration of the assignment is 48 months beginning in July 2008.
Field Engineer Responsibilities & Qualifications:
The Field Engineer will be a member of MWH's technical staff in the field and will support the Resident Engineer (RE) and Lead Field Engineer as required.Duties may include inspecting, monitoring and documenting contractor's work, preparation of daily reports, coordinating with the subcontractor, coordinating with other field staff on site, reviewing submittals, and responding to RFIs.The Field Engineer will report to the RE. Job Experience: The successful candidate must possess an engineering degree from an accredited university or technical institute or demonstrated equivalent experience. Candidate should have 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience preferably involving large excavations, fills, dewatering systems, cellular cofferdams, cutoff walls, grouting, RCRA sites, concrete construction, and powerhouse equipment installation.Prior experience with hydropower project construction is desirable.
Candidates will work in a field office at the project site and will be required to work in a manner that ensures personal safety as well as the safety of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
