Job Description --------------- The Faculty Development Leader is ultimately responsible for the quality of instruction across L&E's curriculum and various delivery modalities at the local, regional, national, and international levels (particularly where the US firm is the lead country for an international learning initiative). This person is a senior Faculty Development professional with deep experience developing/evolving new tools/methodologies/approaches, coaching/developing other team members, and identifying/recruiting/training instructors and facilitators (both internal and external) as necessary for PwC's learning needs. The Faculty Development Leader has additional responsibilities for building and managing a high-performing faculty development team and for collaborating with other functions within the Educational Methods group and across Learning & Education. Strategic & Technical Orientation: Deep understanding of Educational Methods within the PwC business context and ability to coach internal and external instructors/facilitators at all levels (PwC Sr Associates through Partners as well as university faculty and other external resources). Range of Impact: Influences and helps to ensure the quality of instruction for several hundred L&E programs across lines of service, sectors, and markets. Coaches both internal and external instructors (university professors, professional facilitators, etc). Will provide a "window to PwC" for faculty at leading B-Schools. Scope of Responsibility: Team Leader within L&E's Educational Methods Group, working nationally and internationally on programs across lines of service, sectors, and markets. Minimal management of financial resources but a significant driver of quality for hundreds of programs each year. Responsibilities Metrics Leads the Faculty Development team within L&E's Educational Methods group; responsible for day-to-day supervision, management, staffing, leading group efforts around coaching/development, recruiting, etc. (Under the direction of the Educational Methods Leader) Develops processes, templates, and methodologies that enhance instructor preparation and quality for both traditional classroom- and virtual classroom-based courses Under the direction of the Educational Methods Leader, co-Leads L&E's R&D function with the Directors of Instructional Design and Technology, Team & Local Learning, and Assessment & Evaluation. Monitors external space for advances in learning theory and tools; evaluates their potential impact for PwC; recommends changes to L&E, and helps to drive these changes throughout L&E as appropriate. Serves as an internal and external thought leader in the areas of teaching and faculty preparation/development. Presents at conferences, publishes papers, etc. Working with L&E's Vendor Management team, identifies, screens, and manages third-party instructors and L&E's extensive teaching resources (university faculty, consultants, internal resources, etc.) Working with Learning & Relationship Directors and National Market HR leadership, helps to identify competent internal faculty members at all levels of the firm "Owns" instructor preparation for both internally- (PwC Partners, Managers) and externally-sourced instructors and facilitators Firmwide and across delivery modalities Creates and implements a strategy for maximizing the quality of instructors and facilitators within PwC's classrooms and virtual classrooms Manages relationship with national/market HR leadership to ensure success of instructor sourcing process In consultation with Project Teams, as well as across the L&E curriculum, determines the need for and supervises the organization of Train the Trainer events, workshops, seminars, and presentations Links with the design team to maximize the effectiveness and usability of instructor materials and classroom activities (whether face-to-face or virtual classroom) Coaches, reviews, and provides written feedback to instructors on performance Collaborates with other Educational Methods team members to design/develop leading-edge materials that facilitate and enable high-quality learning environments As necessary and appropriate, may instruct or co-instruct courses Improvement in instructor ratings Improvement in course ratings Feedback (via Project Feedback Forms--PFFs) from individual instructors/facilitators Financial stewardship metrics re: internal / external sourcing and preparation of faculty resources Increased blending of traditional classroom- and e-enabled learning approaches across the L&E curriculum Improvements in learner evaluation and assessment results Success identifying/preparing suitable instructors for L&E programs Evidence of thought leadership in areas related to faculty development (white papers, publications, conference presentations, external recognition, etc.) Years of Experience Required ---------------------------- 8+ years Education Required ------------------ Graduate Degree (e.g., JD, MBA). Job Requirement Essential ------------------------- 8+ years experience Experienced in instructor preparation and in-service training. Advanced degree expected, with recent and demonstrably excellent experience as classroom/virtual classroom teacher and as a leader of faculty development initiatives. Broad business acumen. Team player with excellent consulting skills, strong oral and written communications skills, and senior presence. Proven success building and leading high-performing teams of creative professionals. Strong interpersonal and coaching skills including the ability to maintain collaborative relationships. Ability to manage multiple priorities and to align resources to ensure priorities are met. Deep understanding of adult learning theory and the linkage between faculty performance, instructional design, and learning assessment/evaluation. Applied knowledge of the similarities/differences between traditional classroom- and virtual classroom-based learning environments (Centra/LiveMeeting/WebEx, webcasting, videoconferencing, etc.) as they relate to faculty preparation and teaching effectiveness. Working knowledge of NASBA's CPE requirements as they relate to classroom and virtual classroom delivery. Travel Required ------------------ 40-60% Type of Position ---------------- Full Time
