Level of Responsibility:
Responsible to the Site Manager for the overall operational availability and functionality of the IRS Campuses’ plumbing equipment and systems. Acts to prevent potential troubles in the water, sewage, fuel, gas, steam and plumbing system and equipment before they cause safety and health problems or unscheduled system downtime.
Scope of Work:
• Operates, maintains, modifies, troubleshoots, and repairs water, fuel, gas, steam, and sewage piping, distribution systems, and associated equipment.
• Solders and cements piping using brazing equipment and approved plastic piping cements and bonding agents.
• Determines the type, amount and size of materials required to perform plumbing tasks in accordance with established state and federal codes.
• Lays out, constructs, installs, repairs, rebuilds and tests plumbing and pipe systems.
Performs preventative/corrective maintenance on plumbing equipment and systems according to manufacturers specifications and best practice methods.
• Ensures material and workmanship associated with plumbing systems shall be IAW ap¬plicable sections of the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC).
• Annually inspects and tests backflow preventers.
• Performs work according to verbal instructions, work orders, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical publications and instructions bulletins.
• Observes, documents, and interprets readings on gauges, meters, and charts registering various aspects of the plumbing systems.
• Maintains equipment documentation and operational records; enters data related to work order completion into work management system.
• Performs quality control inspection of plumbing equipment and systems
• Participates in function-specific safety training.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Experience:
Four years of journeyman level experience (in the past seven years) in the maintenance of plumbing and piping equipment and systems in facility of 500,000 sq. ft. or more.
Minimum Education:
Must have a current journeyman commercial/industrial license issued by the State or other accredited board. Must have obtained State-recognized backflow certification within the last 2 years issued by the American Society of Sanitary Engineering (ASSE) or the American Backflow Prevention Association (ABPA)
Required Skills, Licenses, and Certifications:
• Must be able to read and interpret specifications, operation manuals, diagrams, blueprints and technical bulletins while performing maintenance, troubleshooting or corrective repairs
• Knowledge of the use of specialized tools to perform necessary maintenance and functions and to troubleshoot equipment.
• Working knowledge of operation and maintenance requirements plumbing and piping equipment and systems.
• Working knowledge of applicable regulations, standards, and safety practices.
• Must be tax compliant and capable of obtaining IRS Security Clearance
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license
