Granite Telecommunications, based in Quincy, MA, has an immediate opening for a multi-talented Facilities Maintenance Custodian for this 128,000 s.f. of class B office space, campus, located just south of Boston.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Promote and contribute toward overall effort in maintaining a high standard in the operation and appearance of the building.Possess and demonstrate detailed knowledge of best practices in commercial cleaning with an understanding of safe and cost effective products to produce desired results.Clean by mopping dusting, wiping, washing and vacuuming all common areas and executive offices, including: all entryway doors and lobby, elevators, halls, stairwells, break rooms, common area glass and conference areas daily.Clean and disinfect restroom toilets and urinals and maintain the overall appearance of the restrooms including paper products and air fresheners once per day.Clean gym locker rooms including: toilets, urinals and showers. Mop floors, wash mirrors and maintain air fresheners daily.Clean café counter surfaces and microwaves; wipe tables and chairs as needed daily.Wipe down and disinfect all gym equipment, sweep gym floor mats weekly.Assist Facilities staff in preparing café and conference rooms for meetings. Be willing to come in early or work late during weather or other emergencies Basic mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance, rendering various building services such as exterior and interior cleaning and cleaning inspections, monitor plant, landscape and parking lot maintenance, snow removal and tenant services such as changing light bulbs, moving furniture/fixtures, and responding to various daily requests.Assist in the installation, fabrication, construction, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment. Regularly inspect all areas of the building(s), rendering general maintenance and repairs as necessary to ensure proper level of appearance and operation. Report deficiencies as well as suggestions for improvement.Possess knowledge of safe and efficient operation of all equipment, power and hand tools. Responsible for the care of assigned equipment, tools.Regularly communicate with the Facilities Manager on the status and activity of cleaning operations and promptly report potential or existing problems.Other duties as needed
Requirements and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent educational certification preferred.A minimum of 2 years experience as a Maintenance Custodian in a Class A or B office environment. Familiarity with MSDS for chemicals used in commercial cleaning.Valid driver’s license, automobile and satisfactory driving record required. Ability to work effectively independently and unsupervised at various properties.Strong interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, familiarity with MS Word and Outlook.A can do attitude and willingness to find creative ways to get the job done.Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends when necessary to ensure adequate building operation during emergencies.Project a positive demeanor at all times and the ability to work as a productive team member with respect for others.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, reach, use arms to perform tasks as well as push and pull objects and grasp with hands for extended periods of time.Ability to run 50 yards and lift 50lbs alone.Frequently required to sit, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, balance, climb stairs and ladders, work at heights and in environments with temperature ranges both while working outside and inside.
