Description: In the recent BP reorganization, the Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit (NGL BU) merged into the North America Gas SPU, and subsequently all of the Permian assets became a part of the Southern Performance Unit. This effort has joined the largest producer, transporter, and marketer of NGL products in North America with the largest natural gas producer in the United States. The Permian assets are a significant piece of this business in and of themselves, as they generated almost 40% of the net profits for the NAG SPU in 2007. Permian production and plants have already been accustomed to working closely together, so the formal joining of the two is a very welcome endeavor that will further enhance our ability to conduct safe and reliable operations that generate tremendous cash flow for BP America.
The Permian Basin is one of the oldest and largest hydrocarbon basins in the world, with over 1,800 individual operators producing roughly 1.5 MMBOEPD. Over half of the production is natural gas, which has increased each year for the last several years. The Basin is comprised of stacked pay, with producing depths ranging from 3,000-25,000+ feet. Many of the industry's significant technological advances were incubated and proven in the Permian Basin. Despite its maturity, it is estimated that the Basin has remaining proven reserves of 8 billion BOE and more than 10 billion BOE in probable and potential reserves.
BP is one of the top 10 operators in the Permian Basin, operating approximately 1200 wells to include flowing gas wells, rod pump oil wells, ESPs, plunger lift wells, water injectors, gas injectors, and salt water disposal wells. The properties cover a large geographic area, being located in both West Texas and Southeast New Mexico. BP produces approximately 25 mboed from company-operated leases and has substantial outside-operated lease holdings that produce another BP-net of 11 mboed. To sustain the business and complement the strong base production, a focused growth agenda is being advanced to exploit an 80,000 gross acre prospect that will be company operated.
The Permian Facilities Engineer is a part of the Field Engineering Team that is located in Midland, Texas. The easy driving distance to the various field locations allows the Facilities Engineer to work closely with the field operations personnel and to witness their jobs firsthand. The Facilities Engineer also has the opportunity to work closely with the local Production Engineers and the Houston-based resource staff, which makes for a strong, well-rounded, multi-disciplinary team. The Permian further provides an opportunity to work in an active, fast paced environment, where results can be readily seen. The quick turnaround time allows projects to move from initial design to completion in a short time, providing a high degree of job satisfaction. All of this combined with the asset's established track record of exceeding performance plans positions each individual for great career opportunities.Qualifications: -Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer
