QA Documentation Technician/Inspector

Position Purpose:

Responsible for review of supplier documentation packages, preparation of Reports of Nonconformances (NCRs), compiling Quality Data Books, interfacing with suppliers to resolve documentation and traceability issues, and interfacing with Outside Inspectors (Customer and Third Party).

Essential Functions

1) Review Supplier documentation packages for compliance to internal procedures. Interface with suppliers on any missing documentation. Issue Report of Nonconformance (NCR) on discrepant documentation.

2) Monitor shop routers and resolve issues with identification, traceability and accuracy of documentation of products delivered.

3) Verify components on shop routers are in the Certification Database and that the documentation has been reviewed. Interface with suppliers on any missing documentation.

4) Interface with outside inspectors (e.g., setting up witness inspections, coordination of the review of Quality Data Books, obtaining release notices, etc.).

5) Interface with Engineering and Manufacturing on routers and Witness Inspections.

6) Familiarity with the following applications: Word; Excel; Access;

Reslog, MFG/PRO; GeMS; Adobe Pro; OneCat; e-Quality; Quest - (will be trained on company specific software systems)

7) Observes Company safety and federal, state, and local government safety regulations, and wears all required safety equipment.

Other Functions:

1) Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor, such as receiving and in-process dimensional inspection.

Preferred:

Education: Minimum High School diploma or equivalency

Experience: 3 – 5 years experience related to dimensional inspection, control of processes, and review of documentation to assure compliance to purchase order requirements.


Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

1) Basic Knowledge of:

a) Microsoft Word, Access and Excel.

b) Intermediate oral and written communication skills: Frequently interacts with peer groups, subordinates; engineers, suppliers, and outside inspectors.

c) To be trained on : Quality procedures, company policies, and record keeping/filing.

Physical Requirements:

1) Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 30 pounds; infrequently lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

2) Ability to infrequently push and pull up to 30 pounds.

3) Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, handle, finger, and use eye-hand coordination; occasionally reach, feel, and twist upper body; infrequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, use eye-hand/foot coordination and foot control.

4) Ability to use senses of hearing and touch.

5) Ability to demonstrate near and far acuity, depth perception, and color definition.

Mental and Interpersonal Requirements:

1) Ability to initiate decision-making procedures in standardized and non-standardized situations.

2) Above-average ability to think and reason, solve problems, work with speed and accuracy, use correct grammar, solve math problems, read with speed and comprehension, use mechanical reasoning, apply three-dimensional skills, work in word processing, spreadsheet/databases, and specialized Company programs, and work well with others; above-average oral and written communication and organizational skills.

3) Ability to read and interpret basic instructions for the assembly of materials, blueprints, technical specifications, diagrams, manuals, schematic diagrams, quality standards and government specifications.

4) Can function independently and in a team.

5) Balances priorities & interfaces with internal/external customers & stakeholders to ensure expectations are met

Working Conditions:

1) Working shift as assigned.

2) Working overtime as it arises is an essential requirement.

3) Working in an air-conditioned office and on occasions working in non air conditioned area, and may have:

a) occasional exposure to noise, and movement of machine parts.

4) Driving as necessary for supplier’s visits and business trips.
