A Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of project management related to environmental and health & safety compliance to ensure an economical, timely, and technically sound product. In addition, project managers are expected to maintain a personal client base with limited assistance from senior personnel. This position reports directly to the Department Manager and must be able to manage project team member resources and subcontractors in the context of managing projects.

 

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Business Development – provide and manage sufficient workload to keep a team of personnel productive; identify work opportunities with existing and potential clients and make efforts to secure the work through networking and the referral process.

 

Compliance - prepare permit applications and plans; formulate recommendations for environmental compliance; audit facility operations; design and install various environmental systems (e.g., ventilation, storm water, industrial wastewater); develop and implement SPCC, storm water plans, PPC plans, lockout/tagout plans and any other plans required by environmental or health and safety regulations; and prepare and submit regulatory agency reports. Perform regulatory and technical research.

 

Supervise subcontractors and communicate with onsite clients and regulators; prepare a Health and Safety Plan; document field activities; write final report; prepare items such as boring logs or well construction diagrams, site plans, photo logs, etc.

 

·         Train field and staff personnel in tasks associated with the project’s scope of work.

·         Mentor field and staff personnel through the technical training program.

·         Schedule staff and field personnel as appropriate to complete projects.

·         Understand regulatory framework for projects.

·         Evaluate, select, and schedule subcontractors.

·         Prepare proposals, budgets, and scopes of work for projects.

 

Requires 5 years of compliance related project management experience in environmental consulting; some business development experience; and a bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental/chemical engineering, chemistry, environmental science, or a related field. Knowledge of environmental permit regulations and strong computer and verbal/written communication skills are a must. Health & Safety experience and knowledge of Indiana state regulations is a plus. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
