Responsibilities Position Summary The position of Environmental Engineer requires a self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and technical skills. This position provides environmental support and assistance to the Mill. The Environmental Engineer manages multiple assignments with changing priorities and challenging deadlines. This position works as a member of a centralized and dynamic Environmental Engineering Department and reports directly to the Technical Manager. The position of Environmental Engineer will be responsible for the following: Work with a firm commitment to achieve full environmental, health, and safety compliance. Renew and maintain permits. Track environmental performance and prepare periodic reports to regulatory agencies. Provide mill personnel with timely guidance on environmental requirements. Participate in environmental audits. Evaluate new regulations and emerging technologies, and lead optimization projects. Directing and monitoring technical consultants on environmental projects and compliance tests. Perform environmental on-call duties, including monitoring and testing of critical mill processes. May include direct supervision of technical lab personnel. Education Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, or Pulp & Paper Science. 3-5 years professional experience strongly preferred. Basic Qualifications Bachelors degree and 3-5 years professional experience strongly preferred. Knowledge - Skills - Abilities The position of Environmental Engineer requires the following qualifications and skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills within all levels of the business as well as external contacts. Strong knowledge of environmental regulations. Keen attention to detail. Strong technical and computer skills. Effective project management, prioritization, time management and organizational skills.
