Engineering Technician
DRS Signal Solutions, Inc. specializes in communications-surveillance products that meld both RF and DSP technologies and is a leading worldwide supplier of high-quality signal-intercept equipment. The Gaithersburg, Maryland facility is a business unit of DRS Technologies. Employing about 340 people, this business unit provides creative RF solutions to the Department of Defense and prime contractors. The facility designs and manufactures HF, VHF, and SHF tuners and receivers, demodulators, direction finders and wireless intercept solutions.
This position will be responsible for providing support engineers from multiple departments engaged in all phases of Digital/RF/Microwave hardware and system development.
DUTIES:
Testing at the circuit-level and system-level.
Assembly of prototype equipment chassis and systems.
Creating and maintaining technical documents.
Setting up lab test equipment.
Assisting in procurement of parts and test accessories.
Interfacing to other departments in the company, and minor circuit board rework.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must Have
Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent degree, plus 2-3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience as an engineering technician or manufacturing test technician. U.S. citizenship is required. Familiarity with the following test equipment:Oscilloscopes
Signal/Function Generators
Network Analyzers
Spectrum Analyzers
Noise Figure Meters
Multimeters
Power Meters
Circuit testing/troubleshooting to component level experienceBasic surface-mount soldering skillsFluency with basic MS Office tools. (Word, Excel, etc)MS WindowsThe ability to configure PCs for use in a test environment. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyGood communication skills.
Nice to have
Analog/RF & Microwave testing experience. Measurement familiarity to include the following:Jitter
BER
Software release testing
Software design verification testing
