Join the excitement! Honeywell International currently has an exciting and challenging Engineering Manager position for New Product Development in its Speed & Position group located in Freeport, IL. The Freeport campus is a larger facility of more than 25 global locations in the Sensing and Control (S&C) business unit, a $900-million strategic business within the Honeywell Automation Controls & Solutions division. S & C is one of the world's leading suppliers of sensors, switches, machine safeguarding and other devices for a variety of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) applications in the automotive, aviation, medical, information technology, consumer appliance and industrial businesses. We are seeking a strong change agent with a proven track record of successful direct management of geographically disbursed staff in multiple global locations. This position includes direct management responsibility for several line managers, and indirect accountability for the global Speed & Position engineering organization of approximately 50 engineers in multiple locations in Freeport, Illinois, as well as global locations in Europe and Asia The successful candidate will lead a multi-discipline engineering team, providing significant technical contributions as well as insuring execution of new platforms in high volume market segments such as transportation, automotive, heavy duty vehicle and commercial/medical. Key responsibilities of the position include: Lead teams to define customer requirements, develop and select concepts, design and transition new products to production following a 5-phase new product introduction process.Direct project planning, technical management, product implementation, schedule adherence and product cost maintenance activities.Interact frequently with customers to ensure project cost, performance and quality meets or exceeds expectations. Responsible for the execution of departmental goals, including financial commitments and product performance results. Assess ongoing technical abilities of team members and ensure technical work of team members is correct. Maintain departmental budget and metrics. Work with the product line directors (PLD) to champion business strategies & initiatives to promote a customer-centric culture. Deploy appropriate Design for Six Sigma tools and methodology throughout the design process; ensure team member training and certification goals are achieved. Conduct annual employee performance evaluations and goal setting process; provide ongoing performance feedback, coaching and career planning throughout the year. Act as a role model and mentor, fostering strong team spirit that enhances employee engagement, retention and productivity. Basic Qualifications: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in an engineering related field (electrical, mechanical, or physics. Minimum of 5 years of prior work experience as a sensor design & development engineer. Must have at least 5 years of relevant work experience in an engineering function with direct management responsibility for individuals, teams and/or new product development projects. Experience in project management tools, technology transfer and six sigma/lean principles. Must have the ability to travel internationally. Additional Qualifications: · Master’s degree in appropriate field is preferred. · Previous experience in the design and development of sensors across a broad range of magnetic, optic, and inductive technologies (including silicon microstructure, advanced thin film and surface acoustic wave) is highly desired · Demonstrated success leading cross-functional, global, remote and/or virtual teams in a matrix organization. · Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills are essential. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
