Conor Medsystems, LLC, a member of Johnson && Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for an Engineering Fellow, located in Menlo Park, CA. The Engineering Fellow applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods. Represents the company in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work. Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have important impact on extensive engineering activities. Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key engineers and officials of other worldwide organizations and companies, requiring skill in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues. Has record of significant contributions to company&'s R&&D effort, including solving problems of commercial and strategic value. At this level individuals will have demonstrated creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering problems, determining program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities. Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives. Recommends facilities, personnel, and funds required to carry out programs that are directly related with and directed toward fulfillment of overall organizational objectives. As individual researcher and consultant is a recognized leader and authority in his/her organization in a broad area of specialization or in a narrow but intensely specialized field. Selects research problems to further the organization&'s objectives. Conceives and plans investigations of broad areas of considerable novelty and importance for which engineering precedents are lacking in areas critical to the overall engineering program. Is consulted extensively by associates and others with a high degree of reliance placed on his/her interpretations and advice. Typically, will have contributed inventions, internal and/or external publications, new designs, or techniques that are regarded as major advances in the field. May technically supervise other engineers or technicians on individual projects. Practices company safety and quality policies and procedures; actively requires conformance. Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance. Responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition. Responsible for the purchase or design of equipment that meets health, safety and environmental standards set by the company. Responsible for performing design reviews and pre-validation assessments to ensure the safe and environmentally sound start-up of new process.

A Minimum of a BS degree in relevant discipline and twenty or more years of related engineering experience; or MS in relevant discipline and eighteen or more years of related engineering experience; or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science and fifteen or more years of related engineering experience. PE license is desirable. Must have significant complex level engineering experience. Experience in the medical device industry is highly preferred. Requires significant experience in metallic implant design and metals characterization, and materials processing. Depth of experience in fatigue behavior and fracture mechanics is required. Mastery of FEA, computational methods, && numerical modeling is highly required. Must have experience with all phases of concept development, advanced research, development under formal design control, and implementation through regulatory processes for market release.
