Position Overview:A key leadership position within the Phoenix Controller’s COTA organization, reporting to the Phoenix COTA Director Controller. This position will drive the proper accounting for all engineering activity for all sites within the Phoenix Center of Technical Accounting (COTA) which currently includes:  Engines, Distribution, Repair and Overhaul, Tempe, Tucson, Rocky Mount, and South Bend.  This position will be a key business partner with the Aerospace Revenue Recognition COE, the SBU Commercial Business teams (CBTs); Engineering Finance, Site Finance Leads and the M&PM organization in reporting and analyzing engineering revenue recognition, EACs, unbilled receivables, deferred revenue and margins by project. Job DescriptionLead the engineering sales and cost accounting processes for all the COTA sites which includes: Managing accounting close activities; Account reconciliations, Analysis of reserve methodologies including the periodic validation of estimating processes.  Additionally the position is responsible for developing a contract review process to ensure compliance to Aerospace Engineering accounting guidelines on Revenue recognition, Cost recovery, Liaison expense and RD&E classifications.  The position ensures the integrity of revenue recognition and un-billed accounts receivable for FFP, CPFF & POC contracts. The position must also establish and maintain partnerships with Engineering Finance, Government Compliance and PP&C. The position serves as the COTA’s primary liaison with Engineering Finance to supply timely and accurate project cost reporting to the engineering community and the reconciliation of the GL to AeroPL and EP3 databases.  The manager must also partner with Government Compliance to ensure appropriate compliance to FAR & CAS standards on project cost accounting and labor charging systems; and support DCAA audits related to engineering. In conjunction with PP&C, the position establishes recurring Engineering program reviews to ensure the accuracy, completeness and integrity of the program Estimates-At-Completion (EAC) and the effective and timely contract close-out. As part of the COTA, the position will support the transitions of other sites’ Engineering accounting processes to the COTA in conjunction with the SAP implementation schedule.  Support the transition of legacy accounting systems to SAP which includes: influence system design to ensure business requirements are met, ensure business processes have adequate and documented controls, and convert legacy data to SAP. Continue to drives process improvements through the use of Six Sigma Tools, enhancing both control objectives, as well as, streamline routine processes to reduce transactional activities and increase analytical activities.  As a key manager the position is  responsible for staff development, recruitment and retention, training, performance management, monitoring and coaching. Basic Qualifications - Required:Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business with emphasis in Finance or Accounting. 8+ years related experience - combination of accounting and financial analysis in progressively responsible roles. Additional Qualifications:Advanced degree and/or CPA a plus. Six-Sigma skills. Thorough understanding of GAAP, financial statement and metrics. Strong written and verbal communications skills, including presentation skills, with ability to quickly and positively influence others. Ability to deal tactfully and confidently with customers at all organizational levels. Demonstrated ability to develop solid working relationships across organizational or functional boundaries, with ability to influence those outside of direct reporting relationships. Strong project management skills; ability to initiate, lead and mentor projects/teams to identify root causes and corrective actions.  Process-focused with significant experience in leading process improvement projects. Demonstrated leadership capabilities and skills. Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making and organization skills. Ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations and meet tight deadlines. Results oriented — gets things done. Innovative, creative and a strategic thinker. Self-motivated, self-starter, promotes positive attitude with ability to effectively train and mentor others. Effective listening skills and flexibility in approach to solutions.
