This position will begin in August/September 2008 and will end based on the needs of the student.

About the Opportunity
As an Electrical Engineering co-op at FirstEnergy's Bayshore Power Plant, you will have a significant impact on the team's success. Based on planned maintenance schedules at the various facilities, selected candidates may see the inside of a generation during scheduled outages, work on the electromagnetic areas, motors, controls electronics and computers. In addition, you will also assist the team in completing outage reports, capital projects and voltage regulator installation projects as needed.

Persons selected will be making a significant contribution to the team! Must be able work in an office 40% and in a power plant environment 60% of the time with absolute safety awareness. Selected candidates must have good communication skills and be able work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

Currently seeking Bachelor's degree in engineering at an accredited college/university, mechanical discipline preferred.

Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to interact with both bargaining group and management personnel at various levels of the organization.

Completed freshman year and successfully passed freshman level engineering coursework.

Minimum GPA of 2.5

Candidate should be available for at least 2 and preferrably 3 terms (Fall 08 & Summer 09)

Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
