POSITION – SR. UTILITY STEAM POWER ENGINEER

LOCATION

Position will be in Birmingham, Alabama

REPORTING

Position reports to the Manager of Power Process Engineering

OVERALL ROLE

·        Function as the utility steam power engineer on major capital projects in the boiler plant market sectors.

·        Complete steam cycle analysis for all gas turbine & utility cycles Gate Cycle program

·        Work with construction, design disciplines, and vendors to develop project from concept thru authorization.

·        Manage project scope, budget and perform studies which analyze, evaluate, and recommend solutions

·        Prepare equipment specs/evaluations, P&IDs, heat balances, equipment list, review & approve vendor drawings

·        Self-perform as a Project Engineer in addition to process work on small jobs

KEY EXPERIENCE

·        Requires a min. of 10 years in Utility/IPP Power & 5yrs. w/Steam Turbine generators & steam heat & mass balances REQUIRED

·        Must have a minimum of 10yrs. w/gas turbine cycles, simple & combined, and steam boilers preferred. 

KEY SKILLS

·        Self-starter with professionally aggressive attitude is a must

·        Solid leadership skills to inspire, motivate and manage a staff

·        Technically strong

·        Good oral and verbal presentation skills

·        Mentoring/coaching capabilities

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

·        Requires BS in Mechanical or related Engineering degree

·        Professional engineer (PE) license is highly desired or must be willing to sit for exam.
