Our Client has an outstanding opportunity for a Lead Energy Engineer, located in Metro NY or Long Island, NY.

 

POSITION PURPOSE

To serve as the technical resource to the selling and operations teams responsible for identifying and understanding the mechanical and energy related problems within a customer’s facility, and taking that site evaluation/information and developing comprehensive, cost-effective technical solutions that increase the operational efficiency of the site.  This position is also responsible for establishing an ongoing partnership with the customer in providing technical consultation on the current systems and future energy and operating efficiencies.

The Performance Contracting Engineer provides the technical expertise and competence to enhance the ability of the selling and operations teams in full understanding the customer’s energy and operating requirements and in developing a comprehensive technical service offering.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Contributes to the profitable growth of the location by understanding the vertical market opportunities and recommending an approach to the comprehensive technical service offerings that will increase market share, exceed the customers expectations.

Maintains expert technical understanding of energy and plant/facility operations within the vertical markets (hospitals, airports, schools, industrials, government and commercial buildings)  and establishes a high level of confidence and technical competency through ongoing customer partnership.

Determines the feasibility of the project and recommends course of action, including assessment of opportunity and risk areas.

Conducts in-depth site surveys to identify mechanical and operating inefficiencies within the facility and uses the information to develop and design a comprehensive technical offering that full utilizes our system/services portfolio which results in guaranteed long term operating efficiency and costs and savings to the customer.

Work with sales and operations teams and consulting engineers in developing the technical and financial components of the job to include accurate cost estimates, savings and labor requirements.

Responsible for determining the appropriate level of energy guarantee and assessing the risk of each new project and develops the necessary measurements which can demonstrate that energy and operating commitments to the customer are met.

Participates in the final customer presentation by leading discussion of the offering and responding to questions by the customer facility expert.

Identifies and works with subcontractors and consultants to ensure the quality of work is consistent with the requirement of the job.

Meet regularly with the sales and operations teams to review the performance of the customer contract and in turn participates in the preparation and delivery of customer progress reports.

Serves as the ongoing technical resource to the customer on energy and operating efficiency matters, and provides advice/counsel on area where the customer could improve their operations and where we can play role in providing services which will result in savings  to the customer.

Supports the operations team in the delivery of the contracted project, resolving design deficiencies and ensuring the energy savings components are achieved.

 

Education

Required:

·          Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other related field.

·          Solid computer skills, including an understanding of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Project.

Desired:

·          Master's degree preferred

 

Certification

·          Professional Engineer license plus

·          Certified Energy Manager is preferred

 Experience

·          3-8 years experience in the following areas

·            Metering and Verification (M&V)

·          Design of mechanical heating and cooling systems

·          Operational analysis of mechanical and electrical system with buildings

·          Understanding of energy sources, uses and relation calculation

·          Project Management expertise including defining and validating project scope and follow through steps to complete systems installation and ongoing project evaluation.

·          Engineering experience with Energy experience developing or supporting performance based projects and/or energy services.

·          Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong public speaking skills desired.
