Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Primary responsibility of estimating electrical construction projects between 100K– 3 Million Gathering data to prepare hard bid proposal estimates and design/build proposal estimates. Perform take-offs from drawings, pricing change orders, and conducting site visits to understand the constructability of projects. Understanding plans and specifications to identify the types and grades of materials and equipment needed to ensure the compliance with project requirements. Developing project schedules utilizing the Critical Path method, assigning cost and manpower to the schedule. Developing budgets and cost codes for projects, assisting in the preparation of technical proposals, including assisting in the design and writing the scope of work, management plans, work sequence, safety, quality control and commissioning. Developing and presenting clear and detailed project scopes to the customer and meeting with the potential customers to present proposals. Design specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish work. Determine budget, schedule, approach and organization from multiple projects. Tracking project status, generating status reports and updated documents. Researching and compiling submittals, pricing change orders and preparing estimates for partially designed projects by finishing the design and preparing a complete project estimate. Determine monthly percent complete for draws. Ensuring that all invoicing and accounting is completed.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Must work well in a “team” environment Requires at least 3-5 years of experience performing cost estimates in the electrical industry. Familiarity with electrical equipment, materials and specifications. Preferably experience as an electrical Apprentice or Journeyman. Knowledge of reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications. Communicating with people outside of the Company, representing the Company to customers, the public and the general contractor representatives. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Experience working with contract documents such as contract drawings, subcontractors, contract addendums, specifications and change orders. Effectively communicating verbally and in writing with others. Knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, email and use of the Internet. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees. Motivated self-starter that peruse new projects without direction from the owner.
