JOB POSTING
ELECTRICAL ENGINEER
POSITION BASIC PURPOSE
Design and develop product for transient voltage protection. Specify as needed all circuit component characteristics
for surge protection products. Develop and manage projects and schedules as required. Prepare and present project
details and updates to PAC committee. Support OEM team as needed.
CONTEXT OF THE POSITION AND MAJOR CHALLENGES
The Electrical Engineer oversees the Process Industrial and Mechanical Engineers and works with the Applications Engineering (Marketing Group) to resolve “root cause” process issues that effect quality. The Electrical Engineer works with the Mechanical Engineer and Product Managers to alter current designs, where the alteration requires minor electrical changes to the product with no new tooling required and /or a minimal of electrical testing, to provide customers with custom requests not in the current catalog.
The major challenge of this position is to act as the final authority for all current TVSS designs / design changes, process changes, new process approvals and to manage “non-test” product modifications for customer delivery.
DIMENSIONS OF THE POSITION
Financial – Sales of SPD product, Minimization of Variable Costs (Process Flow)
Human Resources – Assistance and over site of the Mechanical, Process and Industrial Engineers, documentation control, assigned to TVSS projects.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.
To design TVSS and fuse product as directed by PAC.
2.
To develop and manage, schedules for TVSS and fuse new product projects from prototyping into production.
3.
To work with Applications Engineering to resolve Field Service Report (customer issues) “root causes” as rapidly as possible.
4.

To oversee and manage modifications to current TVSS and fuse designs proposed by the Marketing Product Managers .
5.
To represent the company as needed on industry or code panels such as NEMA,IEEE, or NEC.
6.
To maintain and correct existing drawings for TVSS and fuse products as necessary.
MEANS
Electrical testing facilities in plant or elsewhere, CAD Software, Drawing Control Systems, ERP System, X-Ray equipment, electrical measuring equipment, gages, optical measuring tools, microscopes.
AUTONOMY MARGIN
The Electrical Engineer can approve TVSS and fuse design changes
The Electrical Engineer can approve changes to existing processes or new process additions to assigned product.
The Electrical Engineer can approve changes to the specifications of assigned product lines.
MEASUREMENT CRITERIA
Project completions per schedules.
TVSS and fuse growth per planning.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES AND ABILITIES)
Bachelor of Science, EE/EET degree, or equivalent.
Seven years of experience in the field of Electrical Engineering.
Complete working knowledge of UL Standard and IEC.
Complete working knowledge of MOV, SAD, GDT, electronic circuitry.
